How I ended up here

I grew up on the Oregon Coast, the middle of seven children in a family chronically stressed by adversity. Although I loved my family and it wasn’t all bad, I couldn’t wait to move out and make my own way, so I graduated a year early from high school and left to find my fortune. I naively thought that all I had to do was move out, and I would find the peace and happiness that I’d dreamed of for so long.

While moving out did help, it turns out there’s a lot more to healing after adverse childhood experiences than just walking away from it all. It took me two decades to figure that out.

After twenty years of very diverse professional experiences and lots of travel, I returned to the Pacific Northwest in 1996 for a “real job”,  soon realizing that I was not living in harmony with my true nature. I longed for change, yet I resisted, feeling stuck in my job by debt, so I tried to make the best of it until I was financially free to make other choices.

In the summer of 1998, life gave me a perfect storm to catalyze change – traumatic injury, major family upheaval and depression at working in a profession I didn’t love. So, I consolidated my debts, quit my job and moved to a hot spring retreat center in the Cascade Mountains to rest and reboot in pristine nature. That courageous choice changed my life.

As I healed my body, mind and spirit, I learned a lot about trauma, the nervous system, Energy Psychology and recovery (I’d already been using affirmations, visualization, herbal remedies and natural healing catalysts for years by then). I also received many transformative breath work, massage and energy treatments during that time. Through the combination of somatic and psycho-spiritual experiences I engaged in, I found the resonance I’d craved, inspiring my path as a healing facilitator and coach.

In 2001 I began an ongoing study and practice of Nonviolent Communication, in 2005 I became a Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and a Certified Humanistic Neuro-Linguistic Psychology Coach. In early 2013 I learned Emotional Freedom Techniques and Matrix Reimprinting, and in January of 2015 I completed training as a Professional Co-Active Coach.

I use all of the tools, techniques and wisdom I’ve cultivated so far to help my clients discover and engage their own inner healing resources, reframe limiting beliefs, and unite body, mind and spirit, creating alignment with their unique expressions of life.
